The #1 Way to Save Money on Your Heating Costs This Winter

With winter fast approaching and a continuing struggling economy, many are concern about their winter heating costs.

ENPULSE Residential Solutions, a division of ENPULSE Energy Conservation, Inc. has the answer to your home heating costs concerns: a

Home Energy Audit!

Why a home energy audit?

A home energy audit is designed to help residents save money and energy wherever they can BEFORE making the expensive investment of energy retrofits by way of windows, doors and ENERGY STAR rated equipment.

Talk about saving energy and the tax incentives associated with taking energy saving measures has been all the rave over the last year.

As a result, many contractors are coming into the market offering home energy audits and solutions in the form of products.

What differentiates ENPULSE from the others is that we are state registered Professional Engineers (P.E.) in addition to having all the critical certifications including but not limited to: BPI (Building Performance Institute); RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network); HERS (Home Energy Rating Systems); and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

A LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures.

ENPULSE has been providing high quality engineering and energy savings services to commercial and industrial buildings for nearly ten years. Now, it's making its expertise available to the residential market at an affordable price.

We are independent consultants and service providers dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service. Depending on design complexity, most home energy audits costs well below $350. The cost is even lower if a home owner is part of a home owners association or currently in the process of being sold by a realtor or real estate agent.

With this type of investment and based on no-to-low cost recommendations, our clients see their costs recouped easily within 60-90 days through the costs savings seen in their electricity and natural gas bills.

Join ENPULSE at the GOEXPO Sustainability Festival!

Join ENPULSE Energy Conservation at the GOExpo Sustainability Festival at the Benton Convention Center on Saturday, September 25th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Booth #47.

Admission is FREE!

The inaugural GoExpo is the Triad’s biggest-ever sustainability festival to help families, kids, businesses and building professionals learn how to “go green.”

The Expo will feature information and presentations on green trends for homes, businesses, neighborhoods, schools, transportation, gardens and more.

“We’ve really tried to cover all the different aspects of people’s lives,” Co-Chair Anne Tambling describes. “Whether it’s the schools their children attend, the transportation they use, the food they eat, the houses they live in, the neighborhoods they live in – there are sustainable aspects to all these areas. Most expos are vendor-based – you find lots of opportunities to buy things, ours is about information. We want people to learn about the tremendous advantages that come when you follow sustainable practices– not just environmentally, but financially for your home or business.”

Special guests include Sarah Susanka, architect and author of the best-selling “Not So Big House” series of books; and Sophie Lambert, the director of LEED for Neighborhood Development at the U.S. Green Building Council.

The GoExpo is being organized by the Community Sustainability Program Committee, an advisory body formed by the Winston-Salem City Council in 2008 to spearhead efforts to make Winston-Salem a more sustainable community. Jason Frichner, the chairman of the committee, says the GoExpo is intended to raise awareness of sustainability and the advantages it offers to residents and business owners alike. “We want to introduce the concept to people who may not understand it or have not bought into the benefits of sustainability, and show how it can change their lives for the better,” he said.

GoExpoHighlights include:

•Test drives of hybrid and fuel-efficient cars, courtesy of Modern Automotive Group, the presenting sponsor for the GoExpo

•Separate themed areas focusing on sustainability in homes, offices, gardens, schools, neighborhoods, transportation and construction.

•A GoKids area with hands-on activities for kids and learning opportunities for parents.

•Special workshops, seminars and exhibits for builders, architects and engineers, including classes that fulfill U.S. Green Building Council certification requirements.

•Four “green-themed” movies presented by A/perture Cinema, including two in the afternoon at the convention center.

•Free door-side “bike valet” service for bike riders who pedal to the GoExpo.

•Walk-through mock-ups of a “green” home and a “green” office.

•Exhibits of sustainable products and services for builders and homeowners.

Stimulus Funded Energy Audit & Retrofit Program Available in Greensboro

Through a grant administered by the City of Greensboro and funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant – Recovery (CDBG-R) program, ENPULSE Energy Conservation, Inc. (ENPULSE) is providing free basic home energy audits and energy retrofit services to low-income homes and apartments within the City of Greensboro.

“During tough economic times such as these, it is critical that those with the most need have an opportunity to participate in the critical mission of saving energy as well as money, “said Derrick E. Giles, P.E., Energy Manager for ENPULSE Energy Conservation, Inc. “As ENPULSE began eight years ago, most did not know the meaning or value of sustainability and what it meant for the environment or economy. At ENPULSE, our primary goal is to engage in behavior modification practices intended to increase awareness concerning the value of minimizing energy usage among low-income utility customers.”

The basic home energy audit will include a visual inspection to identify energy and money-saving opportunities for occupants and up to 20 free compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). In addition, if occupants currently do not have a programmable thermostat, ENPULSE will install a brand new one at no cost to the resident.

According to an Economic Opportunity Studies report by Meg Power, PhD, the “energy burden” to low-income households in the South can be anywhere from 17% to 19% of income to keep as warm or as cool as five years ago. Those who are not low-income typically spend between 4% - 5% of their total household income on utility bills.
